A Season to Begin Again

A Season to Begin Again

The rhythm of fall in the mountains always feels the same and entirely different all at once. The aspen leaves fade to brown, the air sharpens, and the familiar hum of snow guns echoes off the hills. The world may feel uncertain right now — economies shift, prices rise, the news swirls — but the mountains remain steady. They wait patiently for snow and for us to return to them.

At Larry’s Bootfitting, we’re open for the season, stocked deep with boots, and ready to help you find your perfect fit for the winter ahead. The shop’s been buzzing again: the sound of heat guns, laughter, and stories of first turns. There’s nothing quite like that early-season energy.

We know times are challenging for a lot of people, so we’ve made a few changes to do our part. We’ve lowered our boot-fitting appointment fee from $100 to $50 this year. It felt like the right thing to do. We’d rather see people out skiing than sitting it out. Our custom footbeds remain at $290, the same price they’ve been for years, despite rising costs from suppliers. It’s our way of keeping the essentials accessible and continuing to support the ski community that supports us.

Most boots are about $50 higher than last year because of ongoing import tariffs. Since most ski boots are made in Italy, those added costs ripple down the line. We’re doing what we can to keep prices fair and still bring in the best gear available.

Here’s the good news: ski season is right around the corner. Resorts across Colorado are firing up lifts this week, and early-season laps will be a welcome reality. The season ahead will be what we make of it — a chance to step outside the noise, breathe mountain air, and find that quiet joy that comes from sliding on snow.

On a personal note, one of our owners has been doing a little experiment this year: skiing at least once a week, every week, since 2025 began, through the winter, spring, summer and now autumn. The video we’ll post from that journey captures the simple magic of consistency from just a few weeks ago on October 6. No matter what’s happening in the world, there’s always time for a few turns.

As winter settles in, come visit. Let us get you dialed in, share a story or two, and start your season off right. The world might be complicated, but skiing — and good boots — still make perfect sense.

See you soon,
Dan & the Larry’s Bootfitting Crew
