Larry's Boot Fitting: Independently owned by local families who love skiing
Serving Ski Enthusiasts for over 20 years!
The history of Larry’s Boot Fitting dates back to 1979. Larry Houchen worked at various ski shops in Denver and Boulder, learning and perfecting the craft as he went. Larry had a strong appreciation for skiing culture and even stronger independent streak. In 2002 the ski shop he was boot fitting at, Boulder Ski Deals, was bought by Vail corporation. Less interested in making money and having a secure retirement policy, and more interested in seeing happy skiers on the slopes, he left Boulder Ski Deals and started Larry’s Boot Fitting in 2003.
For 17 years Larry offered boot fitting services out of the shop, and along the way numerous outstanding boot fitters worked for him and learned the trade. Many of these people have gone on to boot fit at other shops or started their own shops. The old saying is "once you've worked at Larry's, you can work anywhere."
The 2020 Covid year was tough on everybody, and it was time to move forward. Larry retired and sold the shop to his financial director Charlene Hoffman, her husband Todd, and longtime shop employees, boot fitters and slightly reformed ski bums Elaine and Dan Vardamis. Todd and Charlene do most of the back-of-the-shop work, while and Elaine and Dan run the shop on a day-to-day basis. They will likely work with you when you visit Larry's Boot Fitting. You can read more about Elaine, Dan, Charlene and Todd below as well as the entire Larry's Boot Fitting team.
