David Light
Boot Fitter / Rock Climber & Tele Skier / Operations Guru
David grew up south-east of London in the sixties, and was first introduced to mountains by the Boy Scouts. He quickly fell in with a disreputable bunch of traditional rock climbers, who spent all of their free time pushing their luck on sea cliffs and mountainside outcrops throughout the UK and Europe. He attended university at Leeds in Yorkshire before moving to Boulder in 1984, and hence into the center of the rockclimbing universe! David is one of a small but distinguished group of people who has worked with all the best specialty outdoor stores in town: Boulder Mountaineer, Mountain Sports, and Neptune Mountaineering. Although best known for his climbing accomplishments, and despite the Britishness, he also embraces a love of skiing: telemark, ski mountaineering, and nordic touring. He has accumulated 40 years of experience selling outdoor gear, ski boots and other footwear, before coming to Larry’s Bootfitting in 2022. David was the person who hired Dan, one of the current owners at Larry’s, at Neptune Mountaineering in 2009, so we were thrilled when he came looking for a job at Larry's. David loves the seasonal work and enjoys to spend summertime travelling with his sweetheart Jenny in their vintage VW Vanagon. He’s still a passionate climber and skier, and when it snows he’s been known to ski the six mile round-trip from his home to work and back. He’s a true legend in the Boulder mountain community and we’re thrilled to have him on our team.
