David Light

Boot Fitter / Rock Climber & Tele Skier / Operations Guru

Originally from southeast London, David found the mountains through the Boy Scouts and soon fell in with a band of traditional climbers exploring sea cliffs and mountain crags across the U.K. and Europe. After university in Leeds, he moved to Boulder in 1984—right into the heart of the climbing world. Over the years, David worked at some of Boulder’s most legendary outdoor shops, including Boulder Mountaineer, Mountain Sports, and Neptune Mountaineering.

Though best known for his climbing background (and dry British wit), David also loves all things skiing—telemark, ski mountaineering, and nordic touring alike. With over 40 years in the outdoor industry, he joined Larry’s in 2022, completing a full-circle moment: he was the one who originally hired Dan at Neptune back in 2009.

These days, David splits his time between bootfitting, traveling with his partner Jenny in their vintage VW Vanagon, and skiing to work when it snows. A true legend in the Boulder mountain community, we’re lucky to have him on the team.
